MHHS EBL (Emerging Business Leader) was established in 2023 as an exciting extension of MHHS DECA, aimed at introducing middle schoolers to the world of DECA as a club. Founded by DECA officers Sahaana Balamurali and Srishti Gajjar, along with the collaborative efforts of Kavyanjali Nigam, Kishan Goli, Hamiska Nittala, and Anjali Khanna, and guided by advisor Kerry Moquett, this innovative program opens doors for young minds.

Club Structure:

Similar to the High School DECA chapter, MHHS EBL allows middle school students to join two clusters, one for written events and another for roleplay events. This unique structure enables students to explore diverse aspects of business through hands-on experiences.

Program Highlights:

The program focuses on providing students with opportunities to practice roleplays, build their vocabulary, understand practical applications, and grasp real-world business occurrences. It acts as a stepping stone for young minds to develop essential skills early on.

First Cohort Success:

The inaugural cohort comprised 90 enthusiastic students who actively participated in their first mini-competition on November 5th, 2023. During the event, students were assigned specific times for roleplays and written activities, showcasing their knowledge of various business functions. The day concluded with participants receiving well-deserved certificates for their achievements.

EBL's Mission:

MHHS EBL aims to offer a head start to budding entrepreneurs, allowing them to explore various career paths in the business world at an early age. By introducing concepts not typically addressed in middle school, the program helps students discover their interests and potentially shape their future high school endeavors.

Pathways to Success:

Mountain House High School boasts a successful business career pathway, allowing students to enroll as freshmen and complete the program by their senior year. Many EBL participants may choose to continue their journey through this pathway as they enter high school, building on the skills acquired during their middle school experience.

Encouraging Growth:

MHHS DECA and EBL extend an invitation to chapters across California and other states to follow suit. The goal is to foster collaboration by arranging competitions with other schools, providing even more opportunities for young entrepreneurs to engage in DECA competitions before high school.

Celebrating Achievements:

As of 2022, MHHS DECA has received chapter awards for the most significant growth in California, and their advisor was recognized as Advisor of the Year in 2023. The chapter is dedicated to continuing this success by sending more competitors to the national conference (ICDC).

Call to Action:

MHHS DECA and EBL rely on community support and do not receive district funding. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please reach out to mhhsdeca@lammersvilleusd.net. Join us in nurturing the next generation of business leaders!
