Meet the candidate running for the Mountain House City Mayor - Andy Su

December 18, 2023

Andy Su has been a resident of Mountain House since 2004. In 2008, he was elected to the inaugural Board of the Mountain House Community Services District (MHCSD) and has achieved re-election three times (2012, 2016, 2020), maintaining continuous service on the board for the past 15+ years, including four terms as Board President. Alongside his tenure on the MHCSD Board, he also contributed his expertise to the Tracy Hospital Foundation Board from 2009 to 2017.

In his role as a MHCSD Board member, Su consistently voted against special tax increases for 14 consecutive years. His voting record reflects a commitment to enhancing police protection, library services, communication with residents, and recreational activities within the town.

Professionally, Andy Su serves as a full-time emergency physician at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital since 2005. With over 18 years of experience, he has cared for thousands of individuals and their families. Additionally, Su holds the position of Medical Director of the Stroke Program at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, a program he played a pivotal role in establishing in 2017.

Devoting his free time to community service, Su co-founded the nonprofit organization Mountain House Flag Football (MHFF) in 2009. Through MHFF, he has organized youth and adult flag football leagues since 2009 and 2011, respectively, as well as a youth cheer program since 2012. The MH Tennis Club (established in 2011), MH Golf Club (established in 2011), and the recent addition of the MH Sailfish Swim Club in 2023 have collectively engaged over 1500 students and team members. Over the last 15 years, MHFF has seen participation from over 5000 kids and adults, organizing various community events, including parades, royal affairs, kite runs, Nerf wars, Facebook photo contests, Halloween parades, creek treasure hunts, and Best Decorated Christmas House Contests.

Beyond MHFF, Su coached the varsity and JV girls' basketball teams at Wicklund Elementary School from 2015 to 2020. Since 2018, he has been the head coach of the girls’ and boys’ (2020) varsity tennis teams at Mountain House High School (MHHS). Under his guidance, these teams have clinched a total of 9 league championships in 9 seasons and 2 sectional championships, marking a historic achievement as the only sectional championships in any sport in MHHS history.
