Candidate Statement

January 17, 2024

About Daniel Harrison, Candidate for Mountain House City Council

My wife Carol and I moved to Mountain House in March 2011 and live in Questa Village. We have two adult children Zachary and Nicole and four beautiful grandchildren (all girls), two which are twins. We have two Olde English Bull Doggies Lugnut and Panda whom we also consider our children.

I served on the MH Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020. During my term I was appointed as Vice President in 2017, and Board President in 2019.  I chaired the Mountain House Public Safety Committee and represented our board by participating with the Lammersville Unified School District Trustee’s in 2x2x2 meetings to discuss topics of joint interest.

I am a member of the Mountain House Veterans Group, and I founded the Mountain House Active and Retired Law Enforcement Group on Facebook.

My life has been dedicated to public service.  I am once again answering the call to serve and represent the citizens of Mountain House. I served 7 years in the US Navy before being honorably discharged. While earning my degree in criminal justice, I entered public service and spent 28 years as a deputy sheriff retiring at the rank of lieutenant. I continued my service with the Department of Defense in law enforcement rising to the rank of deputy chief. My decision to run for city council is simply this, we the taxpayers and citizens of MH deserve a change as we embark as a new city. I am very aware of our diverse community and their needs. I strongly believe as a City Councilman, I will continue to work along with my fellow council members and mayor and give direction to the City Manager and his/her staff to maintain a high level of services at the least cost to our residents/taxpayers of Mountain House.

I will stay focused with our continued Master Plan development, infrastructure maintenance, fiscal responsibilities and bring services/ revenue to our city.  I am a huge proponent and support of Public Safety and keeping our children, city and investment safe.  I believe with my 39 years in law enforcement, prior 4 years as a Board of Director in MH having the responsibility ofsetting policy, strategic planning, capital improvements for our community we can make sure the future of our city council continues to be efficient and more effective.

I know with the encouragement and support from many of you, I have the confidence needed to take on this important role as well as maintaining the quality of life that citizens in MH are accustomed to. I humbly ask for your vote March 5th.
